Fourth of July to be remembered
Today is about more than barbecues and family picnics. It should also be a day of remembrance.
In April of 1775, few people living in the United States at the time wanted complete independence from Great Britain. Those that did were deemed radicals.
However, within the next year the number began to grow by leaps and bounds. Richard Henry Lee made a motion calling for the colonies’ independence on June 7, 1776, almost a month before the declaration would be signed.
