Crosses offer connection to servicemen

A team of five women is addressing this concern with Ryan’s Clinging Cross Ministry, which lets area people sponsor a cross for $10 to be sent as a sign of comfort to a serviceman or woman.

The ministry ships the curved crosses with a dove emblem in the center to military bases in Iraq.

Linda Echols introduced the cross sponsorship idea shortly after Ruston native Ryan Jones, for whom the ministry is named, was deployed to Camp Warhorse in Iraq.
