I grew up hearing: “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” What a crock! How absolutely false and untrue that statement is; some of the longest lasting scars and biggest wounds which people have carried around are from words that were said, maybe as far back as childhood, and maybe as recently as this morning.
