RESOLUTION NO. 747 OF 2011
RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR APPLICATION BY THE ARK-LA-TEX INVESTMENT AND DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION TO THE USDA RURAL BUSINESS COOPERATIVE SERVICE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Ark-La-Tex Investment and Development Corporation, a subsidiary of the Coordinating and Development Corporation and sponsor of the Intelligent Communities of the Ark-La-Tex initiative, (“ICALT”) has been actively involved in economic development of the rural areas of Northwest Louisiana, Southeast Texas, and Southwest Arkansas (“Ark-La-Tex”); and, WHEREAS, the rural areas of the Ark-La-Tex, including rural-based businesses, have historically lacked broadband connectivity and the capacity to effectively utilize broadband for economic prosperity; and, WHEREAS, the Ark-La-Tex Investment and Development Corporation intends to apply for a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) Rural Business Cooperative Service program to perform services for rural communities and Ark-La-Tex through their ICALT initiative; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RUSTON, LOUISIANA:
§1.The City hereby endorses and supports the Ark-La-Tex Investment Development's USDA application.
§2.This Resolution shall become effective upon final adoption and signature of the Mayor.
Said Resolution having been read and considered by a quorum of the Board of Aldermen, on motion to adopt by Alderman Elmore Mayfield, seconded by Alderman Jedd Lewis, a record vote was taken and the following result was had:

NAY: NONE
ABSENT: ALDERMAN JIM PEARCE
WHEREUPON, the presiding officer declared the above Resolution duly adopted in full on this the 5th day of July, 2011.
