Local burn ban to stay
State Fire Marshal H. “Butch” Browning and Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain will rescind the “Cease and Desist on Outdoor Burning” order that was issued on June 1.
However, the current burn ban on open and outdoor burning remains in effect for Lincoln Parish. The Lincoln Parish Fire Department has responded to at least 17 grass and/or woods fires during the 30-day period up to today. Lincoln Parish remains below average for annual rainfall, and as a result, grass, woodlands and other forms of vegetation remain dry and vulnerable to fire.
