The Lincoln Parish Police Jury has taken the next step toward developing a policy on how it will handle requests for sales tax rebates that are part of the Louisiana Enterprise Zone program.
With no discussion and no debate, jurors on Tuesday accepted the report of their Economic Development Committee that calls for committee members to begin working on procedures regarding the tax abatement. The Enterprise Program allows qualified businesses to request waivers from local sales taxes paid on specified items purchased for use in construction and expansion projects.
At approximately 2:14 p.m. Thursday Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Department deputies stopped a vehicle in downtown Simsboro resulting in the arrest of Allan Joshua Cockerham, 21, of 116 Chocolate Factory Road in Arcadia.
The arrest came after four victims, two male and two female, called 911 to report Cockerham had them at gunpoint at a residence on La. Highway 544 in Simsboro.
According to the affidavit, the victims were in the living room when a noise was heard on the porch.
