Former Super Bowl MVP back in familiar territory

A Williams is at the head coaching position again at Grambling State University, with ex-Tigers’ star Doug Williams set to begin his second stint at the helm. His son, D.J. Willams, above, is among the candidates to start at the same position as his father when the 2011 season begins Sept. 3 against Alcorn State University.

Doug Williams was all set to return to work for the Washington Redskins, the franchise which made him famous as the winning MVP quarterback of Super Bowl XXII.

Instead, he wound up returning to Grambling, the school that helped make him the man he is today.

“I always feel responsible for Grambling because Grambling was good to me,” Williams said. “I hope that by coming back I’m giving back.”
