The Lincoln Parish Police Jury Finance Committee will once again look at the distribution of excess monies in the Solid Waste Disposal Equipment Reserve Fund when it meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
During last month’s meeting, the committee failed to pass a recommendation to disburse $1.5 million to the parish’s municipalities. Distributing $2 million was also discussed, but action was delayed pending further research about how much of the funds, with some in the form of bonds or treasury notes, are immediately available and how much has not matured or would require a penalty if taken out.
Dogwood trees are currently in bloom throughout Lincoln Parish. The tree is linked to the Easter season as it is said that the wood of the dogwood tree is the hardest and that it was chosen to be used in the cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified. This tree is at the home of Mary Russo on Forest Creek Drive in Ruston.
