I used to wonder why art was so expensive. But I’m realizing many of the materials are costly, and the work is time consuming.

Factor in the sentimental value of the work to the artists and their sometimes reluctance to part with their masterpieces, and the price is explained.

My best friend, who is an artist, must clear out spaces in her house to place her paintings.

Although she has been creating dark-theme and mythological paintings for more than a decade, she has yet to bring herself to part with any of them.
