The entire school fell silent, except for the sound of coins clanking in an aluminum bucket, on Friday as A.E. Phillips Principal Carynn Wiggins provided a visual and auditory depiction of how many people died during the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

Wiggins poured more than 2,800 pennies, provided by Adopt-A-School partners Community Trust Bank, to help students understand how many people died on that fateful day, during the school’s annual Patriot Day Ceremony. This year’s ceremony marked the 10th anniversary of the tragic event.
