At approximately 7 p.m. Sunday, a train derailed near the Ouachita Parish and Lincoln Parish line on U.S. Highway 80, causing approximately 82 homes to be evacuated.
Maj. Stephen Williams, Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office public information officer, said the Kansas City Southern train derailed near Sims Road in Lincoln Parish.

“About five to seven cars were turned over, two of which were carrying hazardous materials,” Williams said. “We have blocked off approximately four square miles, which caused about 150-250 residents to be displaced.”
