Sept. 18-24 is National Child Passenger Safety Week.

In his proclamation specifically for Ruston, Mayor Dan Hollingsworth pointed out that in 2009, an average of two children ages 12 and younger were killed and around 340 were injured every day in motor vehicle traffic crashes. In fact, for children ages 1-12, crashes are the leading cause of death.
