New Orleans’ residents still need our help

A year later, much of the area devastated by Katrina remains much as it did in the days following the storm: automobiles are still under homes or stacked in piles where the flood waters left them; houses are still knocked off of their foundations, watermarks above head level showing the height of the misery felt by residents of New Orleans’ lower Ninth Ward and other low-lying areas along the coast; holes are still visible in the roofs of homes where people cut their way to safety as they fled the flood.
