In 1990, the U.S. Congress established the first week in October as Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW), in recognition of the National Alliance on Mental Illness’s (NAMI’s) efforts to raise awareness of mental illness.

This year, Mental Illness Awareness Week took place Oct. 2 – 8. We hope that you joined the public dialogue about mental illness.

Now, let’s continue that dialogue throughout the year.

Most people diagnosed with a serious mental illness can experience relief from their symptoms by actively participating in an individualized treatment plan.
