Help spread fire safety
Little ones across the nation are learning all about fire safety this week as part of the National Fire Prevention Week.
They’ll learn how to stop drop and roll, how to get out of a burning house and how to avoid causing fires. But, the truth is that adults probably need just as much of a brush-up each year as their children do.
According to the national Fire Prevention Week website, www.firepreventionweek.org, the observance began to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire in 1871 that killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, destroyed more than 17,400 structures and burned more than 2,000 acres of land.
