Ruston Lions Club member Tony Corley and South Parkway Children and Preschool Director Sommer Richardson give preschooler Addison Pipes a free eye exam Wednesday. The exam is part of the Lions Club Cubsight program.

Since 2008, the Ruston Lions Club has checked the vision of preschoolers all over the parish, all for free, with its Cubsight program, and on Wednesday the group reached a milestone, giving their 2,000th child a free exam.

“This is just one way to help detect vision problems early on in children,” Lions Club President Stephanie Griffin said. “The earlier we can detect any problems, the quicker we can get them referred to a doctor and possibly correct the problem.”
