Solar energy will supply a small amount of power for the city of Ruston.

A new solar panel farm, located beside the water tower off Interstate 20, harvests solar energy, putting out 40,000 watts of power per hour so long as it’s sunny outside.
“It’s ‘green energy’ that generates electricity with no waste — nothing environmentally unfriendly,” City of Ruston Public Utility Manager Darrell Caraway said. “We are feeding (the solar power) back into our grid, and it will supply energy for the (around seven) homes in the area.”
