Residents dining for a good cause
The Ruston Civic Center was packed on Tuesday evening with residents seeking a simple meal, opportunities to socialize and a way to help their fellow man.
Each person who walked in to be greeted by the meal of vegetable soup and crackers at the Poor Man’s Supper purchased a $5 ticket and donated a can of meat, with proceeds and food going to Christian Community Action.
On one side of the room, there was a large table set up that held more than 50 items — donated by local businesses and individuals — for the fundraiser silent auction. Attendees wrote down their bids for framed posters, a teeth whitening package, jewelry, artwork, tools and even a large, decorative mirror.
