‘Our Town’ explores American dream
Wednesday night I attended opening night of the Louisiana Tech Theatre department’s production of “Our Town” by Thornton Wilder, which ran Oct. 26-29 and continues at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday.
“Our Town” is a play about the American dream in a small idyllic town at the turn of the century. It is a play about life, death, time and space. It is the quintessential American play, and just as it strips down our national mythology to its basic components, it also strips theater down to its basic components, with pantomime, minimal stage design and few props.
