When thinking back on childhood, I can remember my mother reading to my sister and me at night.

In fact, it seemed like going to bed was a pleasant experience because we had the opportunity to escape into the imaginary world of fiction. We learned about experiences of fictional children close to our age from author Judy Blume and science fantasy from Madeleine L’Engle.
