Everywhere I go, people ask me what I do. When I reveal my chosen profession — teaching English at Ruston High School — I often get grimaces, grumbles, sighs or shakes of the head (all coupled with comments about not being about to put up with teenagers). When I tell others that I teach freshmen, people usually say, “God bless you.”
