Center for Blind receives permit for downtown work

The old Kirby Veterinary Clinic Building, located at 119 W. Railroad Ave., was recently purchased by the Louisiana Center for the Blind to be used as an extension of their current facilities.

The Louisiana Center for the Blind is one step closer to adding a little more space for operation after the Ruston City Council unanimously voted at their Nov. 7 meeting to give the center a conditional use permit for construction work in downtown Ruston.

According to documents from the city, the Center for the Blind purchased the old Kirby’s Veterinary Clinic building, located at 119 W. Railroad Ave., with the purpose of demolishing it to build a new addition to their current building, located at 101 S. Trenton St.
