Is there a war on women? And, if so, who exactly is waging it?

The first time I encountered the “war on women” meme was in a Feb. 25 editorial in The New York Times, which wrapped up a combination of an attempt to trim discretionary spending, defund Planned Parenthood and protect the conscience rights of Catholic hospitals as a deliberate attack on half of humanity.

This week, Laura Bassett of the Huff-Puffing Post revived the meme in a nasty little illogical piece of Catholic baiting called “The Men Behind the War on Women.”
