Lincoln Parish Police Jurors have accepted a proposal for a $15,000 study to determine what to do with the growing pile of woodwaste at the Lincoln Parish Landfill.

On a divided vote, Lincoln Parish Police Jury Solid Waste and Recycling Committee this week accepted a consultant’s $15,000 proposal to help address the growing woodwaste pile at the landfill.

Early in 2010, the parish ended its contract with a company that burns wood collected from tree surgeons, yards and off the roads at the parish landfill. Instead, police jurors contracted with SureGreen Mulch to grind up the woodwaste and use it for mulch or combine it with soil and soil conditioners. However, the amount of woodwaste at the landfill turned out to be more than SureGreen could use, and since this time it has been accumulating. At last report, there were more than 10,000 tons of woodwaste at the landfill.
