JoePa: Sad, horrible end to a career

Ever since Black Wednesday occurred in “Happy Valley,” Pa., — or is it now “Sad Valley?” — I keep having these recurring thoughts of what one of Joe Paterno’s closest friends would be thinking now.

I am referring to the late Eddie Robinson, the former Grambling State University coaching giant whose Division I record of 408 wins was surpassed by JoePa less than two weeks ago.
Robinson would be hurting for Paterno, who gave the Tigers’ longtime leader kudos (“it is really something I’m proud of, to be associated with Eddie Robinson”) when eclipsing his standard for wins.
