Courthouse security gets a boost, upgrades start Friday

New security upgrades for the courthouse and Courthouse Annex include a metal detector (below) at the Courthouse Annex, metal detecting hand wands in use at the Courthouse Annex and bulletproof glass (above) installed at various locations at the courthouse.

While deputies work to keep Lincoln Parish streets safe, Homeland Security and Police Jury officials have been working to keep the courts where criminals are sent to be sentenced just as safe for everyone who has to use the facilities.

In an effort to strengthen the security at many Police Jury-owned buildings in the parish, Homeland Security Director Kip Franklin said Phase I of the project has been completed and will take effect Friday at the courthouse, Courthouse Annex and Piney Hills Advocacy Center.

“We just want to make the courthouse safer for the people who work and do business here,” Franklin said.
