New laws could affect Head Start program

Head Start programs, which offer preschool services to lower-income individuals, will soon face harsher reviews for federal funding.

Head Start Programs across the country are scrambling to digest news released earlier this month of new legislation concerning those programs.

The United States Department of Health and Hospitals, which is over the Head Start program, has announced that low-performing Head Start grantees that fail to meet a new set of goals they see as more rigorous will be required to recompete for their funding.
