Voter numbers a concern

Signs of local voter apathy have been apparent in the last couple of elections.

In the most recent election Nov. 19 — less than 20 percent of registered voters in Lincoln Parish bothered to cast their ballots.

In addition to a Constitutional amendment and a Police Jury race, this election included the runoff for state House District 12. Only around 30 percent of voters living in the northern half of Lincoln Parish — which along with Union Parish makes up House District 12 — helped to determine who will make decisions for our state about taxes, new laws and funding for large-scale projects.
