Our students need more than money

Two of the solutions offered by the Southern Education Foundation of Atlanta, the company that produced the report, were to redesign and reform high schools to decrease dropout rates and spend more time and resources on the students who need the most help.

What this report does not mention, yet what most every teacher will tell you, is that the majority of students who do poorly in school or dropout of school are those who have very little support at home. It doesn’t matter how much money you pour at the problem in the
classroom, if it is not being reinforced at home, it’s money wasted.
