Gathering up notes along the sports trail while wondering how long it’s going to take to beciome accustomed to the Houston Astros being in the American League:
• I will be surprised if Louisiana Tech and Grambling State don’t sweep Coach of the Year awards for their respective conferences.

Sonny Dykes of the Bulldogs and Doug Williams of the Tigers are the odds-on favorites to earn the top honors for the Western Athletic Conference and Southwestern Athletic Conference, respectively.
