Helping tip off the annual Neill Killgore Memorial basketball tournament at Cedar Creek on Wednesday were (from left) Cougars’ coaches Tim Smith and Kyle Kavanaugh; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Killgore and Lady Cougars’ coaches Katie Eagles and Erica Norris. The tourney is held in honor of the late Neill Killgore, a former Cougars’ player.

Anthony Russell scored 21 points to lead the boys’ team and Rubie Richie had 15 points as the top scorer for the girls’ squad to help host Cedar Creek High begin play with victories at the annual Neill Killgore Memorial tournament on Wednesday.

Russell helped guide the Cougars to a 59-46 win over Quitman, while Richie provided key support in the Lady Cougars’ 42-24 victory against Quitman.

Shilo Perry (13) and Levi Songer (10) also scored in double figures for the boys and Caley Pyles had 11 points and Allison Ewing seven points for the girls.
