Ellis: Good timing for birthday ‘gift’

It was the perfect gift for Wilbert Ellis and it isn’t even Christmas yet.
Santa Claus can wait.

Last Wednesday, the former head baseball coach at Grambling State University celebrated a birthday.

A day later, he was being inducted into the Southwestern Athletic Conference Hall of Fame.
It’s a long overdue honor for Ellis, who has made a major impact for so many years on the famed GSU athletics’ program as well as giving back to our area in so many other areas.
Ellis had big shoes to fill at Grambling State and legendary ones, too.
