Proposed budget cuts threaten area crime victims

Some of the funds that are being targeted for reduction in the President's budget have been going to local law enforcement and local criminal justice programs, 3rd Judicial District Attorney Bob Levy said.
The President is proposing to transfer $1.27 billion from the Victims of Crime Act Fund (VOCA) to the general treasury. That transfer would seriously impact several agencies that provide support services to law enforcement, Levy said.
