Jurors unable to agree on insurance

Allen had stated in an earlier Insurance Committee meeting that he was in favor of having employees pay a portion of their insurance.

Currently, the Police Jury pays 100 percent of employees premiums and 50 percent of family members.

“I’ll work with all the jurors to get the employees to participate in paying some portion of their insurance,” Allen had previously said.

However, when it was proposed that employees pay 20 percent of their premium, offset by an accompanying raise to offset the increase, Allen was opposed. He was also opposed to a 10 percent employee contribution.
