Former Tech star honored for character-building qualities

Ed Jackson, the character education coordinator for Louisiana Tech University’s football program, was recently named as the recipient of a Wishes Come True “Most Inspirational Award” at the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. Jackson was presented with a football carrying his name and signifying him as the Tech representative of the award which recognizes individuals who make an off-the-field impact on student-athletes.

Every successful athletic team has one of those behind-the-scenes individuals, those who go far beyond the call of duty and give back in ways that make a lasting impact in the future.

Enter: Ed Jackson for Louisiana Tech University’s 2011 outright Western Athletic Conference champions, honorable mention vote recipients in the USA Today coaches’ poll and recent participants in the annual San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.

As much as the Bulldogs achieved with their on-the-field work and relentless turn-this-season-around attitude (as has been well chronicled, Tech lost four of its first five games before going on a seven-game victory streak) was their discipline and dedication outside of the playing arena.
