City moves forward on substandard structures

The owner of this structure, located at 503 Ash St., was given 15 days to do something about the substandard condition of the property.

Ruston City Council members made decisions on the future of several structures at Monday night’s regular meeting, including one of their own.

Lewis Love, city administrator, said more than 300 structures have been demolished or hauled off in the last four years.

“I keep thinking we will have them all, and they just keep coming,” Love said. “They were all basically falling down. The structures were an eyesore and safety hazard with possible illegal activities going on inside them. I think they will keep coming — hopefully not at this level.”
