At the tender age of 52, I can still find myself in need of a “do over.”

Granted, the urge doesn’t come as often as it did in my younger days. Thankfully, my life’s experience, coupled with the ease of comfort I feel within my own skin, has gifted me with a confidence that ultimately enables me to safely move beyond the bumps along the way.

That being said, I can still feel the sting of regret over missed opportunities or situations where my performance wasn’t what it could have been. Case in point — four months down the road and I’m still bruised from beating myself up over what I considered a less than stellar presentation. Despite rousing applause and positive feedback from many in attendance, I know I could have done better. Whether due to distraction, lack of focus, inability to capitalize on my strengths or simply trying to fit into what was expected by others, I allowed myself to fall short. I know I didn’t do my best, and it haunts me to this day. I long for a “do over.”
