Tech students held a Walk for Education prior to the Ecumenical service. The walk was hosted by Tech’s National Society of Black Engineers and incorporated students being of service to their community.

City of Ruston residents gathered Monday afternoon for the 10th year in a row to participate in the Martin Luther King Jr. Ecumenical Service at the Ruston Civic Center, sponsored every year by the office of multicultural affairs at Louisiana Tech University.

The service, themed “The Pursuit of the Dream through Service,” featured a variety of tributes to King from various student organizations at Tech, including one meant to further the educational opportunities in lower-income communities in Ruston.
