New ordinance was introduced, second local law approved

The Ruston City Council has introduced a new ordinance that could make it easier for city police to catch those who steal goods and attempt to pawn them.

During their monthly meeting on Monday evening, alderwoman Glenda Howard introduced an ordinance relative to gold and silver articles and secondhand dealers.

Ruston Police Department Chief Steve Rogers explained that the ordinance, to be voted on at the city’s March meeting, tweaks existing law and will make it easier to track and recover stolen property.
