Halting illegal activity
Ruston-Lincoln Crime Stoppers paid a record number of tips in 2011.
The organization paid more than $10,000 for 39 tips that led to the arrest or grand jury indictment of suspected criminals.
That’s a more than 300 percent increase over the number of successful tips logged in 2010, just shy of five times the amount of money paid out in 2010. Crime Stoppers pays rewards of up to $2,000 for a successful tip. Tipsters’ identities remain anonymous.
