Beneath a white floral garnished gazebo, barefoot in the sand, Jamie Nicole Gibson and James Matthew “Matt” Pipes Land, both of Choudrant, were married at noon on Dec. 17 in a private ceremony officiated by the Rev. Dr. Jackson Miller at Breezes Resort on Cable Beach in Nassau, Bahamas.

Jamie is the daughter of Wayne Stroope, of Oxford, Mich., and Rhonda Gibson Hayes, of Bossier City. She is the granddaughter of the late Bobby Gibson, Lorene Traylor Gibson, of Ruston, and Carl and Barbara Stroope, of Tyler, Texas. Her stepparents are Cecil “Buster” Hayes and Sue Stroope.

Matt is the son of Mike Land, of Choudrant, and Debbie Sanderson Fresina, of Baton Rouge. He is the grandson of James “Doc” and Freddie Land, of Choudrant, the late Howard Sanderson and the late Joy Nell Henderson Davis. His stepmother is Dana Ginn Land.

The bride wore an exquisite gown of white chiffon by Dere Kiang. The bodice, fashioned with dainty beaded straps, was enhanced with floral lace embellished with petite pearls and crystals. The back of the gown featured delicate ruching at the bodice, accented with crystal buttons. A softly flowing chapel train completed the gown’s elegant styling. A jeweled hair adornment served as the bridal headpiece. She carried a bouquet of purple and yellow daisies accented with fuchsia orchids, baby’s breath and leather leaf greenery. The groom wore a white shirt and khaki slacks.

Upon returning from their honeymoon in the Bahamas, the newlyweds were joined by family and friends at a reception that included a unity sand ceremony on Jan. 21 at Ruston Country Club. The bride’s cousin, Danna Collins Burway, served as Maid of Honor and the groom’s father, Mike Land, served as Best Man. The romantic décor of the wedding celebration consisted of candlelight, sand and seashells, surrounded by purple and yellow tulle. The wedding cake held cascading purple and yellow daisies and the groom’s cake was decorated LSU.

Prior to the wedding, the couple was honored with two showers.

On Nov. 19, a miscellaneous shower was held at the home of Mark and Holly McGee, of Ruston. The shower was hosted by the bride’s co-workers.
On Dec. 10, a lingerie shower was held for the bride at the home of Keith and Karen McDonald, of Shreveport. The shower was hosted by Karen McDonald, Alicia Matlock Carroway and Catherine Hudson Orr.

Jamie is a graduate of Choudrant High School and Louisiana Tech University. Matt is a graduate of Central High School in Baton Rouge.

The couple will reside in Choudrant.
