Ruston set to host basketball tourney

Commissioner Kenny Henderson and the Louisiana High School Athletic Association made the perfect “handoff” by choosing Ruston as the site of the 2012 boys’ and girls’ State Farm Insurance “Top 28” basketball format.

The state’s governing body for prep sports found itself suddenly without a city and a facility to host the dual hoops’ fest last year when Shreveport/Bossier turned it down.

Henderson and the LHSAA had to go into a two-minute drill to begin formulating the logistics, personnel needed and a variety of other challenges that result from staging such a big event.
