It’s also helpful to be able to recognize when a pipeline has been damaged or is leaking. Warning signs include a pool of liquid on the ground near the pipeline, dead or discolored vegetation, bubbling water, a low-lying dense white cloud or fog originating near the location, frozen ground near the line or fire near the line. Other indicators are an unusual hissing or roaring sound or a strange smell.
