Bush defends Iraq plan to nation
Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, said he supported Bush’s plan to increase the number of troops in Iraq — if it’s not too late.
“I’ve felt all along we didn’t have the forces over there we needed to get the job done,” Alexander said shortly after Bush ended his speech. “We’ve tied our soldiers’ hands and kept them from doing their job.”
As for Bush’s healthcare proposal, Alexander said he was glad the subject was broached.
“We need healthcare reform, but I’m not sure I understand how it’s (Bush’s plan) supposed to work,” Alexander said.
