Paul Millsap, who earned All-American honors at Grambling High and captured three NCAA rebounding titles at Louisiana Tech University, has devoted a loyal following with the Utah Jazz.

PHILADELPHIA—Thankfully, the comparisons have finally died down. Paul Millsap no longer gets mentioned in the same breath as Karl Malone, even though he went to the same school (Louisiana Tech) as “The Mailman,’’ even though he’s playing for the same Utah Jazz team as the NBA’s second leading all-time scorer.

Not that he ever tried to be.

It was patently unfair for the kid from Monroe to be linked to one of the game’s all-time greats. But you never heard Paul Millsap complain. In fact you probably never heard him say much of everything, simply because that went against his upbringing.
