Former Tulane University player D.J. Banks, who starred as a prepster at West Monroe High, had five catches for 114 yards and a 61-yard touchdown during Louisiana Tech University’s first scrimmage of the spring on Saturday.

In an area of longtime expertise for Louisiana Tech University’s football program, the receivers had an overall inconsistent day Saturday during the first scrimmage of the spring.

Dropped passes, lack of follow through on some routes and just a flat demeanor with a position that should be one of the Bulldogs’ strong points in 2012.

It still will be, regardless of how that nearly two-hour event evolved on the FieldTurf of Joe Aillet Stadium.
