Senior outfielder O.J. Simmons III, a former star at Ruston High School, will be available for duty when Grambling State University plays host to Southern University in a Southwestern Atheltic Conference series Saturday and Sunday.

GRAMBLING — Grambling State University’s baseball team is in a triples’ mode again this season.

After ranking among the national leaders for most three-base hits in 2011, the Tigers are featured in the Top 10 of two different triples’ categories, based on NCAA statistics announced earlier this week.

Grambling is No. 8 in total triples with 15 and No. 9 in triples per game at 0.52.
