Grambling State University will host a solo art exhibit by senior art major Deleisa Brown, titled “FEMIDENTITY.” The exhibition will be held in Favrot Student Union from now until Monday.

Brown explores ideas of feminine beauty and how a woman’s confidence is affected by social pressure to be “beautiful.” She presents simplified silhouettes of nude figures that focus on body contours and rhythmic movement rather than the body as a sexual object. Her belief is that all bodies are beautiful. She says women should identify with Cindy Olsen, who said, “I am the shape that was gifted. ... My hips are wider than that of a fashion model, for this I am glad, these are the signs of a life lived.”
