City, students plant oak trees in honor of Arbor Day

According to the City of Ruston’s proclamation, Arbor Day, where more than one million trees were planted in Nebraska, was started in 1872. Arbor Day is celebrated throughout the world, including Ruston.

Last year, the City of Ruston planted two Bald Cypress trees in the front of Bobby James Memorial Gym. This year, the tree planting ceremony was held in Duncan Park on Arlington Street.
