Lawmakers voice views on 1-time money usage

Making decisions regarding funding for an entire state for a fiscal year is not an easy process. And as our area legislators have seen, it’s going to take more than one budget proposal to make sure the state is on the best financial grounds it can be.

The most recent change came Thursday afternoon, when the Louisiana House of Representatives voted 63-38 in favor of House Bill 822, which would give lawmakers the option of utilizing $268 million in one-time funding from various state funds to help the state deal with its current $25 billion budget proposal.
